Client news: ETS Tan set for debut of new technology at October’s Smart Tan Convention
Nearly a year ago, when the world’s largest tanning bed manufacturer debuted a new line of sleek and high-tech tanning beds at the country’s largest tanning trade show, salon owners were highly impressed.
ETS Tan’s e3 tanning beds have raised the bar in the tanning industry, said Don Olevnik, who owns seven Dark Tan tanning salons in upper New York. “They produce a better tan for my clients than other beds on the market and they’re highly efficient and cost effective for my salons,” he said. “e3 tanning beds have that wow factor that instantly attracts customers. Once they experience how these beds perform, they’re even more astonished.”
Salon owners throughout the country are echoing Olevnik’s thoughts on ETS Tan’s e3 bed line. e3 technology was designed to save space and add style to salons while decreasing the costs associated with powering the beds. The beds feature a more compact design and are equipped with mood lighting, MP3 inputs and easy-to-use controls. e3 beds also feature electronic ballasts that reduce energy consumption and lower electricity costs by up to 30 percent and eco-friendly Wolff Systems lamps. “The response from tanners and salon owners to our e3 line of beds has truly been overwhelming,” said ETS Tan CEO Bill Pipp. “The line was designed to deliver a superior tan with top amenities to the customer while arming salon owners with the latest in energy-saving science, ergonomic design and eco-friendly lamp configurations to lower their operating costs and increase their profits. We’ve accomplished that. Now, we’ve set our sights on the next generation of new technology.”
ETS Tan will debut that new technology for 2011 at the 15th annual Smart Tan Convention and Trade Show Oct. 22-24 in Nashville, Tenn. The event, at the Downtown Nashville Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center, draws thousands of salon owners, industry suppliers and entrepreneurs together from throughout the nation. Pipp only offers a hint at what that technology is. “We know we have a great product in our e3 line of tanning beds. We will be delivering even more energy-saving science to salon owners who choose ETS Tan that will help them save space, add style to their operations and increase their profitability.”
Miss Ohio Teen USA 2010 chooses tanning responsibility in moderation as a key platform during year-long reign
Bridget Linton is used to the spotlight. Her passion for Irish dancing has landed her on stages throughout the U.S., Ireland and Scotland. A high school cheerleader and homecoming queen, today she’s a freshman member of the dance team at the University of Akron while pursuing a major in broadcast journalism. She’s also Miss Ohio Teen USA 2010.
Crowned last October, Linton tours her state as a goodwill ambassador, making appearances at schools, guest speaking and working with charities including D.A.R.E., the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. One of her platforms during her year-long reign is responsible tanning and the health benefits gained from moderate exposure to UV rays.
“Moderate exposure to ultraviolet rays is the key to tanning responsibly,” she says. “The danger of a body’s exposure to UV rays comes when the skin gets burned and what can result from sunburn. Moderate exposure for people who can develop a tan is the smartest way to maximize the benefits of exposure and minimize risks.”
Linton will advise people of all ages during her reign to learn their skin type, find out how much exposure their skin can accept without burning, protect their skin with protective lotions and wear safe, protective eyewear. She’ll also help educate Ohioans about the benefits of UV exposure past simply getting a bronze glow on the outside.
“In the U.S., people are suffering from a serious vitamin D deficiency,” said Tim Freeman who owns Altima Tan and Massage in Akron. Freeman approached Linton shortly after she was crowned to help back her responsible tanning platform. “Research has proven that UV rays trigger the synthesis of vitamin D and are responsible for the health benefits of exposure. While one doesn’t have to develop a tan to produce vitamin D and everyone should avoid overexposure to prevent skin burn, which causes skin cancer, in reality tanning is a great way to stimulate the body’s production of vitamin D.”
Freeman’s salon, in business since 2007, tans on average 260 people a day. He is an ardent supporter of tanning in moderation and tanning responsibly. He and each of his five employees strictly follow critically important tanning guidelines developed by tanning industry leader ETS Tan, the International Tanning Association, Suntan Supply and the FDA.
“Salon services are in higher demand by a wide range of individuals than ever before,” he says. “As a business owner, I want to provide the best products and services at the best prices. But above all, I want to be a responsible, reputable business. Our top priority is to ensure that every customer who chooses to come in follows established tanning guidelines and most importantly follows recommended frequency and durations of sessions according to their skin type.”

New sleek and sexy tanning beds will be unveiled tomorrow at national trade show
Tomorrow’s the big day – the day that ETS Tan unveils its new line of sleek and sexy tanning beds. ETS Tan is in Nashville, exhibiting at the Smart Tan Convention and Trade Show through Sunday and showcasing its new e3 line of tanning beds.
I can’t show you what the beds look like until tomorrow’s post both here and on ETS Tan’s Facebook Fan Page but I can share a little about what they look like and their features. I got to see one of the nine new beds last week and it looked awesome. The beds are smaller and more compact than ever before. They’re rounded and have very elegant curves. The beds have illuminated panels that can be programmed to change color and add movement to add ambiance to a salon. Outside the beds on the back, one access panel gives way to the vast majority of the bed’s electronics and internal components so beds don’t have to be taken apart when they require maintenance. And inside the beds, a new, scientifically engineered surface hugs a tanner’s body and virtually eliminates uncomfortable pressure on the body, making each session more comfortable and more enjoyable. Tanners can plug their MP3 players into any of the beds and enjoy their favorite songs without using earbuds.
e3 stands for energy-saving science, ergonomic design and easy maintenance, by the way. A huge focus was to make the new line of ETS Tan beds more energy efficient and green, more comfortable for tanners and easy for salon owners to maintain. I’ll share photos of what the beds look like and include their key features tomorrow after Noon EST here on our blog and on ETS Tan’s Facebook Fan page.
